Students are dying from gun violence.
Why isn’t it in the Health Curriculum?
ceasefire northwest is working to put a focus on gun violence prevention and education in schools.
our mission & WHO WE SERVE
1
Ceasefire Northwest’s mission is to build a well-informed society that understands firearm injury and death as a preventable public-health issue. We serve students, educators, families and communities across Washington State and beyond.
Firearm injury is a leading cause of death in the United States, yet most people receive little formal education about firearm safety, risk, and prevention.
We believe this gap is both significant and solvable.
Education—clear, factual, and age-appropriate—can help people make safer decisions, recognize risk, and act to prevent harm.

Our Approach
3
Our work is grounded in a simple idea: people make better decisions when they have better information.
We are:
Educational, not ideological
Evidence-informed and grounded in public health
Respectful of diverse perspectives
Focused on practical risk reduction and real-world situations
We do not tell people what to think—we give them tools to think clearly about safety.
our origins
4
Ceasefire Northwest builds on the legacy of Washington Ceasefire, the state’s earliest firearm injury prevention organization. As that organization concluded its work, a new group of educators and advocates came together to expand its mission with a renewed focus on education.
