Our Mission
Ceasefire Northwest’s mission is to build a well-informed society that understands firearm injury and death as a preventable public-health issue.
We start by educating high school students, who are uniquely positioned to protect one another and to carry these insights into adulthood. But our work does not end there. We are committed to extending firearm-injury-prevention education across the lifespan—from younger students to families, community members, and adults of all backgrounds. Through consistent, nonpartisan education rooted in data and real-world experience, we aim to create a culture of safety that endures across generations.

A Year of Growth and Recognition
The past year was an extraordinary one for Ceasefire Northwest. But the numbers tell only part of the story.
We consolidated our board and brought on inspiring new talent whose energy, expertise and commitment are helping shape the future of our organization. We created a functional new website and continued building the foundation we need to expand this work.
Our Work In Schools And Beyond
Our most important work remains in the classroom. Ceasefire Northwest shares classrooms with dozens of teachers and thousands of students, providing accurate, public health-based information about firearm injury, suicide, risk and prevention, and practical steps that can help reduce harm.
In 2025, we taught more students than ever before, reaching more than 6,000 students in a single year, and expanded into new schools and school districts across Washington.
We have done this work without compromising our commitment to being nonpartisan and evidence-based. Despite the politically charged nature of firearm issues, we have received no complaints of bias from parents, teachers, administrators or students.
Our work has been recognized beyond Washington:
We published the first paper describing our holistic approach to firearm injury prevention education for high school students in the Journal of School Health.
We presented our work at state and national public health and education conferences, bringing our experience to audiences that are central to the future of firearm injury prevention education.
We helped develop Edmonds School District’s new health curriculum, incorporating important information for high school students about firearm safety. Daffodil Planting at Green Lake - Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.
Meet us near the east parking lot across the street from Starbucks. We will continue the tradition of planting daffodil bulbs around Green Lake to remember and honor victims of firearms.
Student Art Contest - Submission deadline: November 9
Our student members have organized an art contest open to all middle and high schoolers in Washington State with cash prizes for first, second, and third place. We will celebrate their work on November 21 at the Columbia City Art Gallery at 5:00 p.m. for the award ceremony. See more details about the contest here!
